The year 2020 is unique in many ways. It has not only changed our reality but also transferred a major part of our everyday life into the virtual world. The outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic has slowed many academic activities and some of them has been ceased. This was the case with the first-ever cookbook published at the beginning of this year at the Opole University of Technology. While waiting for a return to normality its premiere has been postponed until now - it is no secret that for over a decade, month November at OUTech (despite the unfavourable weather conditions) is a hot month in terms of culinary activities. Therefore, it is the best moment to present FLAVOURS OF THE WORLD WITH THE OPOLE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY to a wider audience!

The book is the result of IRO's cooperation not only with students but also with the Confucius Institute, MENTOR PO and ŻUBR students associations, EMITER Radio, STREFA Canteen and OUTech's Promotion and Culture Section. The book is a collection of recipes for dishes that have appeared on the tables over the years under the initiative International Cooking Day. With its help, everyone can go on a culinary journey around the world, especially now, when travelling is difficult due to the spread of the virus.

However, the edition of "Flavours of the World" is only one element of this year's culinary puzzle. Learning the new reality and following the trend of on-line events, the International Relations Office not only decided to publish the book but also to organize a Virtual Cooking Week! As a part of the event, recipes for national dishes of this year's Erasmus + students will be published on the IRO Facebook fan page every day until the beginning of December. We will also post students’ opinions about Polish cuisine and their favourite dish.

Please feel invited to a joint, virtual culinary journey: https://www.facebook.com/IROOUTech
